club car rearends question

spent a long time looking all over and can not find any model numbers on this but I have an 05 precedent. does the ds and precedent use the same rear ends? getting ready to put a vanguard 18 and high speed gears in and cant help but think if I want to put a limited slip kit in now is the time to do it. the only kits I can find are labeled 86+ ds never anything about precedent. they are also pricey. basically will that kit for 86+ ds work with my precedent? anybody know what is included in the kit? thanks

An 86 to 96 transaxle is a 2 part unit,
A 97 to present transaxle is a "Unitized" transaxle and is completely different!
If the kit said... for 97+, then it would work!
I have yet to see a limited slip kit for a unitized transaxle, If I did, I'd have one!

as they advertise it, yes i would say so blackdeath. i am interested to see the difference in the diff carriers from 2 piece to unitized since the unit is solely in the carrier. i guess there isnt much call to replace the carrier in either since i cant find part number for them

Here's the deal... I downloaded the install instructions,
"They" say... 1986 to 2006 Gas or electric vehicles with a Kawasaki transaxle,

Electric?... yes!
Gas... NO! it should be from 86 to 96 for gas vehicles!

If you DARE buy that for a gas 97+ Unitized Kawasaki transaxle, you'll be in for a H*LL of a surprise!
And then when you want to return it? it'll be yet... another surprise!

trust me, im not doubting you lockman, im honored to have you trying to help me. im trying to consider another option. nothing will happen until the rear is out and I can visually see it, but considering getting a plowmans diff kit only to rob the springs and friction pads off it. then machine the blocks using those parts to fit my carrier. lets face it the only reason you can get them for the other carts is because the people who designed them had those carts. im a machinist at the university of Illinois so I think I can handle that. just ideas, thank you for your input

If you can machine just about anything you may be able to make your own posi or limited slip setup.
Usually friction discs behind the gears in the carrier in a posi make it work.
Anyone have a pic of the open differential in a two piece rear?

the set up is not a true limited slip, more of a friction enhancer. plowmans setup advertises counter wrapped springs and the bigger friction pad. he has put some thought into it. I figure I might be able to make the new blocks or modify his to get the pressure on the spider gears. problems are that I have no idea what material the friction pad material is, and how much spring pressure his system puts on the gears. his does cost significantly less making it easier to work with tho
