Yamaha Snowmobile Engine into G14
I have the chance to get a Yamaha Phazer II snowmobile with a brand new engine in it for cheap. I think it would be an awesome engine, my only set back is the 2 stroke. What do you guys think about having a 2 stroke in a golf cart like that? Let me know, Thanks!

Re: Yamaha Snowmobile Engine into G14
Can't I take the starter off the engine that is in the golf cart right? And put it on the other engine?

2-stroke in a G14, Its gonna be sweet! You will have to make your own brackets, and get a clutch with a v-belt pulley to use stock starter/generator.

Re: Yamaha Snowmobile Engine into G14
It might turn it over, it might be too much rpm for it though.
It will be fast, especially if you can figure out the hard part....getting that sled exhaust into the cart. You lose power without it. 2 stroke are loud and stinky, otherwise make a lot of power. Your fuel economy will suffer lol. |

If I want to use it for a put around at a camp ground golf cart, would you recommend that motor?

No, too loud. Tuned for performance more than "putting around". 2-cycles generally hate putting around, they wanna run.

Re: Yamaha Snowmobile Engine into G14
If you don't need tons of power the cheapest way is a clone engine, they are still about twice the power of a stock engine. Can also go to larger lawn based engines such as the vanguard 16 to 23hp. Check out Vegas carts site for clone kits that will give you an idea, or cartpartsplus for twin kits.
A sled engine is a big project! You can look at some in the sled engine area under the Big Block Talk. |

For campground use I would go with a clone swap, Like sho said check out vegas carts Geoff sells complete kits to make the swap,
