Recommendations 95' DS Gas
My uncle purchased a new golf cart and gave me his old beater for me and my boys to play with. It's in pretty good shape but obviously I'm going to want to do "stuff" to it. What kind of things would ya'll recommend? The cart itself is pretty bare-bone stock.
1. I would like to lift it. What would you use? 2. I need a headlight, taillight, brake-light kit. 3. I need more "easy" speed. I'm sure I could take this thing apart but I'm not a mechanic by trade. 4. Are there any "how to" books out there that I need? 5. I'm going to paint it...Is the body easy to take off? Any information is appreciated. |

1. I run an Allsports 6" double A-arm lift. I love it.
2. Those are easy to find on the cart supply sites or eBay. 3. You can adjust the governor using plastic zip ties to get some more speed. And it's easy. 4. I've never cracked open a book for these carts, most of the stuff you need is out here on the Web somewhere. 5. Body is pretty easy to take off. You definitely want to if you're going to paint the whole thing. |

Thanks Springbok. Obviously, I'm new to golf cart ownership so the whole zip-tie the governor thing scared me a little. Last thing I want to do is ruin the engine.

You can go as high as 25" tires I think. I run 22.5" diameter tires on mine (see photo in my signature).

I have the governor completely off my cart, but my cart has a different governor setup than yours, and I don't let anyone else drive it. |

Re: Recommendations 95' DS Gas
I bought new wheels for mine that were offset because I thought the sidewalls of the tires would rub against the leaf springs in back. But I'm not 100% sure I needed to. But the new wheels were only $16 apiece, and if I used the old wheels I'd have had to dismount the old tires in order to use them. So I just went with brand new wheels for those reasons.
