Default G1 idler arm clearance

Disassembled a old g1 ,upon rebuild I'm noticing minimal clearance between the threaded ends of the time rods and the bolts holding the a arms in. The space between the two is about 1/8 inch and that does not seem right to me. The front bumper was welded on when I got it so I know it hit something at one time. It looks like a cast piece,so I would think it would have broken not bent but not sure. I can't even find one to purchase, all I find is for a g2. Any input from anybody? Thanks
