G29 high speed gears install
For members with 2015 and up G29-A's that want to install high speed gears....I learned a lesson and would like to pass it on. First, since you can't get the secondary off and the ring/differential out with it bolted up, just take the transaxle out! Second, Seems "several" out of 50 gear sets ( I recieved one of them!), will make a noise under deceleration, kind of like when we put a playing card in the wheel spokes of our bicycles. The problem is the new larger "pinion gear" (that mates with the new "ring gear") can come in contact with the input shaft govenor weights. The fix...you must "bevel" the weights to clear the pinion gear. I used a air diegrinder with a cut off blade to take alittle metal off and round over the edges. Never had this problem with G16/G22 Dana transaxles. So after the 3rd removal/disassembly/reassembly....no noise on deceleration You can alway's teach an old dog new tricks!
