Default Yamaha 2 stroke will not start...Locked up?

New to the forum. I have what I think is a G1 cart that wont start. I have had it for a while and was going through a gate on the farm and got back on pushed the pedal and nothing. So I have checked and am getting power to starter. And the solenoids are clicking etc. I loosened the belt on the starter and it runs forward and backward. I took the cover off the flywheel and the flywheel wont turn a complete turn by hand but if I take a 1/2 ratchet it will turn. Is the motor supposed to be easier than that to turn ? Is the starter to weak to turn the motor?? Thanks

Since I don't know a thing about 2 stroke, I think I would start taking the head off to see what the cylinder looks like!!

Ok I will do that. What should I be looking for? Should the motor turn easy by hand instead of using a 1/2 ratchet and socket?

The motor should turn over fairly easy by hand. Did you try to grab the clutch with two hands and turn it? It should turn free until it hits the compression stroke. Sounds like something is binding or seized. Usually in a two stroke, the problem is in the bottom end . Main bearings or lower connecting rod bearing.

Easier idea.Take the spark plug out and it should turn smoothly and easily. If it doesn't then you KNOW something is wrong inside.

Yeah I took the spark plug out. I grabbed the flywheel (plastic piece behind the shroud) and turned it. Then it seems like its binding or something, I havent tried to turn using the clutch. Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue LOL

If you pulled the plug and it won't turn over then you have a big problem. Without the plug installed, it should turn over with VERY little effort.

Ok so I just went out to the garage and turned the flywheel and it moved alot free'er turned the key to reverse and pushed the pedal and it started cranking, it was kinda slow but it was cranking. I tried the forward and I had to manually turn the flywheel a few times and now it will crank. It will crank a little faster in reverse than forward. But it wont fire up. Wow now what !? And getting fire to plug!
