Default Weird noise from 05 g22

Question for all you yamaha owners out there. Just bought a 2005 yamaha g 22. This thing runs good and is very fast. But there's a noise that's def not normal. It's like a load rattling noise. I thought made muffler collapsed but after putting it in neutral and gassing it def sounds like it's coming from the rear clutch. I noticed also the drive belt is extremely loose. So I ordered a belt. Could the spring just need replaced in the rear clutch? Anyone of you yamaha owners ever dealt with this?

if its a "roaring" sound that increases with speed, check that the spring seat is not rubbing against the transmission case. also may be the input shaft bearing. hate to break it to you, the belt is supposed to be rather loose, so that likely not gonna be a total fix. the other items are not a 5 minute fix/adjust job either.

It's not a roaring sound. What it sounded like to me and what I Def thought it was was the muffler. I have an 87 ez go and it had a simular sound and it ended up being the muffler guts collapsed and was just rattling around. It wasn't until I put the cart in neutral and hit the gas a few times that I could tell it's def coming from the secondary clutch. Next weekend when I go up I'm gonna disconnect the drive belt and eliminate the sound coming from the engine. I'm thinking a stronger spring and new ramps will take care of it. If not gonna have to get a whole clutch and replace the shaft bearing while I'm in there. I have 2 ez gos. 1 newer one older with a 2pg motor that I just completely rebuilt so I'm confident I can fix it just don't really know anything about these yamahas. But it was a deal I couldn't pass up so I had to buy the cart. Just installed a RHOX 6" a arm lift and I'm def loving this cart. Just got to eliminate this sound. Thing thing drives perfect but it's annoying.

I notice some noises with our g22s here also, only see it in neutral though and it seems to just be slight some gear overlap in nuetral. Does it make the noise while driving also?

There is an air cleaner bracket that is suppose to be welded to the generator bracket. The weld breaks easily and makes a heck of a racket from vibration !!

Yeah it does it when driving as well. And thanks Mike sound about right where the sound is coming from. Can't wait to get back to camp to see if that's it. Def makes sense.

So I finally got up the camp after a long time and I replaced the secondary clutch spring with a new heavy duty torque spring from Jake's along with a spacer and new shoes also did a tune-up spark plug wire fuel filter belts and Mike I did find the bracket for the air cleaner that was broken and and wleded that and this thing runs a hell of a lot better. but it's still a lot louder than my older EZ-GO but I don't think its anything that is bad?!? are these Yamahas usually just louder? I looked at the Bearing while I had the secondary clutch off and there was no movement and it did not look bad. I know that's not a way to tell but from visual point of view it didn't look bad. when I take the drive belt off and rev it up in neutral it does not make the noise. it is only when I am driving and it does not seem to get louder it is just constantly there. my next thing is to open up the rear pumpkin and just make sure that nothing looks out of place and that it is filled with fluid. anybody else able to give any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
