The sliding collar that the 3 weights press against. It's made out of something similar to cheese. It has a washer on it, and I have seen the washer cut through the collar.

I just got a basket case 2009 that I am going to fix up over the winter and am still waiting for my manual to show up. I apologize if these should be obvious questions.

I assume those weights are part of the governor system? When that collar wears, does the governor stop working properly or does that cause something else to fail? Other than the wear on the collar, how well does the rest of the rear end hold up?

Thanks for your time and help.

Disables Governor, no speed regulation. Can deposit junk in the axle to slowly wear it out. Otherwise they are OK. The brakes will eventually wear out, which is a expensive fix. The Team axle is my least favorite part of the 07-14 Yamaha, (but at least it's not super difficult to work on)
