Installing G-22 Input Shaft
I snapped my rear end input shaft last weekend and am going to replace.
Anyone know of any videos online to walk through the process? Thanks as always. |

Re: Installing G-22 Input Shaft
I did mine this past summer and couldn't find any videos on how to replace it. I have a service manual ,which gives a general direction ,but i carefully disassembled it so i knew how to put it back together. I ended up also buying a rubber fiber gasket sheet and made my own gasket. It went smooth and works great.

Pay attention to the screw behind the shifter linkage. Count the number of turns when you remove it. There's a spring and ball behind it--don't lose them. It's for shifter adjustment. It's best to use an OEM case gasket for proper shaft alignment. |

Re: Installing G-22 Input Shaft
Thanks to you both Dave and Tony!
Tony- Where did you get the service manual? I'd love to get a copy of that. The owner's manual doesn't give much information. Got my parts today from Don Plowman and Plowman Carts and I am planning the install tomorrow. PS- I did do a search before I posted and did not find that thread! PPS to Dave- Mine also broke at the dragstrip when I was going to pick up my kids after a run. |

Re: Installing G-22 Input Shaft
Nice post Dave The only things I can add is...Clean off the old gasket, use a new OEM like Dave said, then just install the input shaft (with the washers) and test fit it the cover with 2 bolts. If the in/out play is right, remove the cover, install the f/r counter shaft (with the trust washer and counter gear), then add the forward gear, the shifter dog and shifter shaft, then the reverse gear and thrust washer. Install the cover, install the ball/spring and set screw (as Dave said) install the secondary in preload and you are good to go

Re: Installing G-22 Input Shaft
That is what Plowman expected to have happened to mine when I called. He said he'd never seen one snap like mine. So glad I could be the first!

Re: Installing G-22 Input Shaft
I got the service manual from tradebit.com. it was a pdf digital download for 9.95. Was well worth it. 504 pages. I was able to get an input shaft from a friend, so i had no choice but to make a gasket. I could not find just the gasket online.
