G11 weird no spark slight spark

Picked up a g11 yamahauler for cheap and figured I could fix it. I like to think I can fix anything with a little research.. This thing is getting me pretty stumped. It's a 94 g11 with a 285 j38 motor. I learned today through this forum certain ignition parts must match. Bought the cart not running. Wiring was a disaster. Downloaded manual and have wired correctly. I have another newer 96 g11 and that runs flawless. I put my igniter in it and it had spark and ran. I put my coil on it also and it ran. But with all of it on the 94 it doesn't run. With a spark tester in line, I get a spark at first press of pedal and then as soon as I let go of it. I ohmed the pickup coil and it read high at 525 and my running one only read like 375 so I bought a new one and it's 310 now.. It's a jf2 pickup. How do I know I have the right flywheel and ignition parts for my motor. Can the starter generator take spark away as it gets up to speed? The coil no ground according to diagram. It get both wires from ignitor. I can't get enough spark to jump the plug but yet the tester shows a spark. Tried different plugs to no avail. Any help appreciated.
