Default drive belt misalignment

Okay guys..just put on my new belts tonight and noticed that the drive belt appears to be a little off center. in the one pic. you will see that I do have the spacer in behind the secondary spring seat. the starter belt seems nice and straight. Any clues to why this isn't nice and straight?

Man, to start with, NICE PICTURES!!

I'm guessing bad motor mounts. I put all new in when I built mine, so I'm gonna have to go look at my ole heap when I get home!!

All 4 motor mounts are brand new.. smallblock is thinking that the new J38 clutch I put on is a little wider than the stock G2 clutch.. I am wondering if I can shim out the secondary sheave a little on the transmission side..

Thanks on the pics.. this guy from Arizona taught me well..

Incorrect primary clutch. Notice how close belt surface is to starter belt groove in my pic (of a true G2 clutch). Have a look at yours.

cgtech..Yes I was checking out the old primary compared to the new one..there is almost 3/8" difference between the 2.. the new clutch I was told is a J38 style and would work on the G2.. is there anything you can think of that I can do to use this clutch? can I add a spacer to the back side of the secondary spring seat to push it out for alignment??

Don't try to drive it like that, think you will tear up that new belt!!

Now we need pics of your old primary clutch!!

And put a cotter key in the secondary!!

Can't put a spacer on the back because that won't allow the fixed sheave to fit on its taper & key anymore. I think you are pretty boned.

I agree with CG, but not that your boned. Any G29 gas owner would love to have that primary clutch for what you paid for it.

Mike..no where close to driving it yet.
My old primary looks exactly like the one cgtech posted..
Yeah I know..gotta get one for it..on the list

cgtech..not the answer I was looking for..crap!

What clutch is that wider surface used on? Hopefully the guy I bought it from will understand and refund my money.

Ahhhh..smallblock there may be hope, what does a clutch for a G29 cost? I'd make someone a great deal providing the guy won't take it back.
