My G2 has developed a backfire as well that is getting increasingly worse. At first it would only backfire after coming to a complete stop. Now, not only will it backfire on occasions after stopping, it will also bog down and backfire sometime while you are in motion. A friend of mine's dad said who fools with small engines said he believes it is the ignition coil causing the issue. Does that make sense ?

I would make sure that the throttle is closing all the way.

do not know it could be coil.
leave me no when you find out.
mine runs great to half throttle then cuts out like it is not getting gas.
it goes like full throttle back to idle back to full over an over will give ya whiplash
