Default 1993 Club Car ignitor

I jumped in my cart this morning & it cranked over but would not fire (run). I had this problem once before (four years ago) & it was the ignitor. At that time I bought two ignitors so I would have a spare. So I popped in the spare ignitor & it fired right up--problem solved.

The question that I have is, since I no longer have a spare where is the best place to buy a replacement and how much should I pay??

I googled "1993 club car ignition igniter" and I see this item selling from $13 to $60 . Some places state that their unit is for "brush cutters, chain saws, garden tractors, lawnmowers & trimmers" BUT they do not say that they will work on Golf Carts. The unit LOOKS the same as the ones that I bought 4 years ago but I am leery about buying a part that is not made for the Club Car.

I know that some posts that I have read here have stated that a weed wacker ignitor will work okay and they are a lot cheaper.

Any feedback is appreciated.

More it from the original location and youll never need a new one again.

Back in the day when I changed these- I made an extension wire and moved it to the frame under the F/R switch. Mount it with a single nut and bolt and it will never fail. being bolted up against the motor, the heat does it in.

I agree. Don't know about never needing a new one again, but it is mounted in the worst location possible.

I figured that out in 2013 after I had to replace two of them in a short period of time.

Thanks for the post though

Do you have any idea who has the best price for the ignitor? I have seen several for sale on the web but the don't say that they will work on a Club Car even though they look the same as the one that is on the cart??

2005 doesn't have one, so you're good. That is if it is an 05 engine in it.

So....... I'm not one of the experts.. But

I've seen with a lot of the electronics they highly recommend going with genuine Club cart parts..

Look up one of the forums sponsors and buy the genuine part from them.

FYI, newer style coils have the ignitor built-in so if you ever need to replace the coil you could eliminate the ignitior
