Default Stock 2004 gas DS limitations

I picked up a stock with 2000hrs 2004 gas ds to mod up as a family cruiser/ kayak hauler in the texas hill country at Canyon Lake.

I found the sticky related to engine mods, however before diving into that, I have a question about expectations:

Will a stock, with the outlined improvements provide enough torque for someone to stretch this cart and expect to be able to be the family of 4 hauler? Let's say an 800# load up and down paved hills ? I know a v- twin would be better but will a stock one have the power without breaking the bank and leaving the best alternative to be a new engine? I have no desire to break the 25mph sound barrier, just give me torque.

I'd say do the cart mods you want and then run the cart with the stock engine to see if you like it or not. It's hard to say how steep the hills are but you can always put on a hd clutch and spring

The patient. It's so small...I've forgotten how small a regular cart is compared to my well modified RXV...

Whelp, looky what I found...totally missed it when inspecting the cart because I looked from the back...plain as day when looking from the front! What a dumb mistake! Now I guess I'll be dismantling this cart finding a welder!

Do a thorough inspection of all your welds, we use a strong LED in a dark room with a magnifying glass - CC welds are notorious for stress cracking and failure, generally where there's one, there are 3 or 4 more lurking about ready to let go (our record was 11 on a late-90's carryall 2, LOL)
