Led light kit stopped working
Hi. Hope everyone is doing well. I have a presedent cart with an led head and tail light kit, just running lights, no brake lights. The kit was installed by the dealer. It has been working fine for the last 2 years since we got it. Well, they stopped working so I thought it was the switch. Not. Voltage to the supply side of the switch is weird. With my dvm the pos to the supply wire of the switch, touching the neg of the meter to the metal box where the tow switch is( thinking this was a good ground) 36.5 volts. First it's a 48v cart. Second why so much voltage to the switch? Now if I touch the negative post on each battery I get different readings. Bat1 11.5v bat2 0.5v bat3 23.8v bat4 36.8v. With that said, I checked all pin connectors from the dash to the head light. They are all tight and clean. Is there a ground strictly for the lights? Fuse? If so where. Other than this the cart operates as it always has. Please somebody tell me they ran into the same thing and has figured it out. Thank you.

Re: Led light kit stopped working
Good morning.
Well with the lack of response I am assuming the battery voltage is scaring everyone away. Forget I mentioned those as the cart runs and charges very well. Any suggestions? Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk |

Re: Led light kit stopped working
Golf carts do not have a "frame" ground like cars.
All voltages should be referenced to the negative terminal of the main pack. - (Battery 1) +/- (Battery 2) +/- (Battery 3) +/- (Battery 4) + This assumes you have a 12v battery setup. Where are the lights getting the voltage? From battery 1 +/- or from the total pack with a voltage reducer? I had an LED setup and the headlight had several LEDs go out, one turn signal had only 1 LED working. I replaced it with a new light bar, and it all works now. Also, check the plugs to all lights. If one is not plugged in, it will cause all lights to not work. |

Re: Led light kit stopped working
some LED lights are rated from like 12 volts to like 39 volts.
so i am thinking that the dealer just hooked up three of the batteries (Assuming that there is only 4 batteries) instead of the whole pack. again guessing looks like they are using batteries 2 3 and 4 i am guessing that you have a loose connection some where is there a wire on the negative side of bat 2 and another wire to the positive side of bat 4 (with the switch breaking one of the wires). turn the lights on and wiggle the little ( not the cables that hook the batteries together) wires on bat 2 and 4 pics would be great. look at where the wires are connected to batteries. the loose connection will fail when current is run through but the dvm will still work and measure the voltage at on of the lights |
