Default 04 cc ds

Just acquired my first cart. Just did full tune up on fuel system. About to tackle the belts this week. Cart runs good but is there an easy way to adjust the governor. Also what speeds will this increase to. Appreciate all the help I can get.

What size tires are on your cart?
With the age of that cart, before you go messing with the governor make sure your clutches are not worn out. Check the sheaves for any grooving or wear. If they look wavy, replace them.

Governor adjustment is done by loosening the 10mm nut on the governor arm and turning the center stud. Clockwise to speed up, counter clockwise to slow down. A Small adjustment makes a BIG difference so mark the stud and the arm so it can be adjusted back to its original placement if necessary.

Depending on tire size, and if the governor is in the stock position you should probably be in the 16-18mph range. You may be able to get to 20, but that will probably be the most you can do without hitting the rev limiter. Some people disconnect the limiter and run the engine faster but it’s at the risk of blowing it up.

Tires are 22/10.5/12. Cart is a 2004 so I’m assuming the fe290 is also. I’m gonna check the clutches. Thanks for the help. Hope it makes a difference
