What are these electrical tests showing? SG issue?
1995 DS with newer battery @ 12.5 volts.
Solenoid can be felt with the clunk. Electrical Tests: Key off: Solenoid large Red: 12.5 like battery Other 3 are zero with key off Zero at starter generator, but shows continuity? With key on: Solenoid: red and both small at 12.5, zero on large white SG: zero even with key on However , While pressing gas down, small wire on SG shows 2.5 on meter Larger cable on SG bounces, but it’s about 11.5 on meter. Appreciate it! |

Re: What are these electrical tests showing? SG issue?
Are we supposed to guess what the starter generator does when you press the pedal?
Voltage can vary at the White cable at the S/G but usually if it's over 11V the S/G should be turning. If not, compare battery voltage, vs voltage getting to the S/G while the pedal is pressed. Is voltage at Battery + different than at Solenoid RED, Solenoid WHITE, and S/G WHITE connections? With key On, pedal pressed, Solenoid RED and WHITE should be exactly the same voltage. If they are not the same, the solenoid has burned or damaged connections, or burned contacts internally. If Key ON, Pedal pressed, and voltage at the S/G matches Battery + the S/G could be bad, or has a poor ground connection. |
