Default CURTIS controller 1238 - Function of "interlock"?

Hi!
Have a BBB 2010 which will get a 48 li ion battery and a new controller instead of the Curtis 1238 which seems broken. Since the wiring diagrams for this bad boy are relatively rare, I wonder if anyone has the knowledge what function the Curtis pin no J1-9 has. It's called "interlock" in the curtis wiring diagram. Has it anything with break to do?

Regards
Fredrik
