Interesting. So that clutch should have only had three pucks in it then? Mine definately had all 9 in there. I still have 4 of them. Or are some of the pucks dummy pucks? Really a noob to all of this with carts but can race a good desert truck/rockcrawler when I need to. Just a hair of a learning curve here, I'll get it, thanks for the patience.

Also is there a better spring to put in there that will help also? Since its apart I might as well.

wow, my bad rusty. i had two clutches to chose from when rebuilding our cart and neither looked like that, but the 89 says ez-go comet on it so assumed incorrectly. the second one i couldn't find markings but has a black outershell. not that it matters now but i have know idea what they are.

madoc ,
you have a ezgo comet clutch,
he said in his first post a 94c or a duster
which is a 94c and duster made by comet the will handle up to 70hp with no problems[IMHO] they have been used in the snowmobile word for years.
the clutches you posted in your picture are fine and good running clutches but ezgo don't want the person tearing them apart so, they dont even sell parts , that i know of but [ some sled stuff will work in them]

I read that putting more weight in the pucks will allow them to pick up on the RPM's faster

No more weight will engage sooner at lower rpm and will hold the
running rpms down which will em pare your climbing ability.

ok that makes sense thinking about it now. So I need to figure out the proper rpm range for this motor, do the shortened belt trick to make it climb better, and figure out which pucks I still have.

What does everyone use to weigh these things? I've never been a crack dealer so weighing in grams hasnt been a big thing

rusty, i guess it has been a bad day. thx for the info. also want to say i messed up on the sizes of the puller. 2" 3/4 fine bolt and a 3 1/2 inch 5/8 rod. worked for me on both of those clutches.
