Analog Tachometer Help!!!
I found some old posts saying that an Equus 6086 tach will work with a single cylinder engine, I purchased one today and I only see selections for 4/6/8 cylinders there is no "red button" that is spoke of on the forum or that is actually in a pdf you can down load from the Equus web site. Has anyone had success using one of the tachs, I'm trying to go the cheap way out with the tach but I want a dial style.

Re: Analog Tachometer Help!!!
The ones that work use an inductive pickup, their site tells what ones I thought all of them would do it. You may have to buy the pickup for it. They were on amazon last time I looked. Their site tells what ones do it.
It says it is included http://equus.com/Product/Detail/7988...7-7B0DD14DBE08 Under benefits. This is the pickup they list |

Re: Analog Tachometer Help!!!
Thanks for the help, I think I will go with the 8068 which can be set up for single cylinder, the others can only go down to 4 cylinder so I think you will just have to do a little math to know your rpms and I didn't see anywhere to plug in the inductive pick up as well on the smaller ones.

Re: Analog Tachometer Help!!!
I dunno, it seems to say all tachs will do inductive, the 2.5" says it will (the 6086). The instructions seem to be for all of them, shows 3 plugs on the back and the cylinder setting.

Re: Analog Tachometer Help!!!
Yea I read that as well I think it is a generic manual for all there tachs, I bought the 6086 and there were no plugs on the back and no button to select the 1-12 cylinders it was all hardwired. I have an email into there tech support to get some clarification. Thanks for your help. Brian

Re: Analog Tachometer Help!!!
I have one suggestion about the Equus 8068 tach for the club cars.
The spark plug induction wire works great for ezgo's and yamaha's, but for club cars for some reason the tach doesnt like using the induction clip that goes around the spark plug wire.. When i installed my first one, it was a brain buster for me for a bit. lol i thought the tach was bad.. so i tryed the same tach on other carts and it worked on my ezgo, and the yamaha, but it would bounce all over the place on the club car. Now Equus had different revisions of the 8068, in regards to the wires and how they hooked up to the back of the tach, but the install should be similar, just read the instructions to use the direct hookup method (i believe using the green wire??). Because the club car is a magnedo style ignition, theres only one wire comming from the magnedo that goes to the rpm limiter. You need to tap into this kill wire and then setup your cylinder adjustment, and igniton type on the the tach untill you get the proper rpm. Give that a try, ive had good luck with that method.
