g1 front shocks
I have just installed a jakes lift on my g1. After I installed the 22" tires I realzed a camber problem. So I tried changing the jake the upper shock mount holes. it is bad like this /--\. So im wondering if jakes made a mistake in the front upper shock mounts or if my shocks are just wore out badly? Im fine with buying new front shocks. I already am going to install new oem honda 400ex shocks in the rear.

Re: g1 front shocks
Shocks only control bounce, they do not hold anything up. So if your shocks are worn out you would simply have a bouncy ride. Any sag or camber issue would likely be worn, bent, or improperly installed springs.
If you you are just fishing for a way to justify getting new front shocks then, yes it must be worn shocks!!! |

Re: g1 front shocks
I know shocks control bounce. But I dont think I can get just springs can I? So I would just buy the assembly (shock, spring).

Re: g1 front shocks
G1's have a coil over shock/spring setup so you can't run with out the shocks. After I lifted my G2 I went with some honda 400EX shocks off ebay. Cost me about $50 with shipping. Honestly I wish I spent the little more and went with the Honda 450R shocks they are stiffer and have a remote res. The 400EX shocks are way way too soft even on the highest preload. When I hit reverse I'm almost driving on side walls.

Re: g1 front shocks
I know that the shocks and coil spring are one peice. I wonder if the coil springs are wore out. I dont know how to check them. I know in the rear I wanna change oem shocks to honda 400ex or something stiffer to help load carrying capacity. But I dont know what year works the best

Re: g1 front shocks
All year 400ex's were built to the same specs. If you want stiffer get the 450R shocks. If you have the money I'd really suggest you go with those ones.

Re: g1 front shocks

Re: g1 front shocks
They bolt right in if you have a lift. If not you'll have to make some higher top mounts. $50 each is a bit much for 400ex shocks look on ebay I've seen them any where from $45 - $65 a pair.
