Database of "Non-Golf Cart" Parts that will work in a pinch
Hi All !!! I thought it would be time to start a thread regarding "Non-Golf Cart" (IE NAPA, Advance Auto, etc) parts and info that people could cross-reference in a pinch to get their carts up and runnning without the wait and hassle of ordering and waiting for parts online, etc (plus, many of us are far from ant EZGO dealers that stock the parts, and best of all in some cases there may even be a few bucks to be saved!)
Feel free to post your contributions, but let's try and hold it to parts we have actually USED and can confirm are a "drop-in" replacement (if there are any tweaks or caveats to using a part, PLEASE try and explain it thoroughly in your post to avoid frustration, confusion, etc.) With any luck, some time, and some effort hopefully this thread will grow to help us all avoid that dreaded "Friday night blown solenoid", etc right before a weekend at the campground, etc and give us alternatives to get our Buggies up and running quickly! |

Re: Database of "Non-Golf Cart" Parts that will work in a pinch
Continuous-Duty Solenoid, Marathon 2-stroke 2PG, 3PG: NAPA ST-80, $58 (Stock Item) - Also, Advance Auto Parts s603 (BWD) $39.99 (Not a Stock item though - store availability will vary so call first)
Shock Absorbers for LIFTED Marathon carts (4 or 5" lift, rears require the reuse of existing lower shock bushing) - these shocks are oversized as compared to stock, and will allow those with lifted carts to eliminate those weak shock spacers that are supplied with the lift kits. FRONT: Monroe 31125. REAR Monroe 31000. |

Re: Database of "Non-Golf Cart" Parts that will work in a pinch
I just put a set of Progressive Adj. coil over rear shocks on my G-20 Yamaha that was made and bought for Harley. Retail price over 500.00 bought at Charlotte Auto Fair for 60.00 never used. I will add the part number later, also I do have a 6" Jakes lift on the cart.

Great info on the shock numbers brew! I'm not too fond of the spacers myself.

Re: Database of "Non-Golf Cart" Parts that will work in a pinch
RJC: The stock setup has bolt-end on the front, loop on the rear - sounds like they may have done a little more, um, "creative engineering" on that front end than was originally thought ... I'd just use the 31000's front and rear, but you may have to reuse your existing lower bushings depending on what sized bolt they used when they redid it

Thanks for the shock numbers! As soon as I get done fixing the rest of my junk I'll finish the final touches on my cart.

front wheel bearings, comment on shocks
Advance Auto, stock 1" wheel bearing for trailers. Reese #72791. < $15.
I'm like a previous poster on those cheapo lift kits with shock extensions...not good. Plus, my shocks were 20+ years old and totally shot. Why extend a broken part? |
