How to adjust brakes 1988 Marathon

I recently acquired a 1988 Gas Marathon Fleet GX444 2-cycle and with the brakes set i can push the cart around. Need to know how to go about adjusting the brakes as i am new to carts. Any help is appreciated.

You should have auto adjusting brakes on that cart. Have you tryed pushing them to the floor a few times?

Welcome 200 to BGW

Look on the inside of the backing plates at the top. You'll see a nut that secures a pin that can be moved with a cresent wrench that's your adjuster. Loosen the nut and turn the cam untill you have slight drag on the drums and you'll be god to go.There is also a cable adjuster under about in the middle of the cart. Make sure to lube all moving parts. I'm also in Il. down south by St. Louis U ?

Thanks for the help. I assumed that's how the brakes were adjusted but i wasn't sure. I'm used to the auto adjusting drum brakes on trucks.
I'm in the mid west part of the state near Quincy.
