Default Oil warning "red bulb" always on (???)

HI,
I have a 4 stroke TXT. since few days, the engine oil warning remain on after starting the engine.
I check of course the oil level and did top up, but still on.
It has to be said that my young son (12) had the good idea to use the cart with a friend of him and they tilt up the cart on the side.

since i have this problem.

any idea what could be the issue? and I feel the car t get less power than before. before we could run with 4 adults on it but now at 3 it start to be slow and i see i miss power.

what could be?

thanks for your help

I would check for a bad ground in the oil light circuit. If the light comes on as soon as the key is turned then you probably have bad ground in the circuit or the sensor is bad.I would do an oil change. Change the spark plugs hopefully this will restore full power. You could also do a compression check to if see the previous low oil level caused some damage.

Did they bend any linkages or brackets when they flipped the cart? Not allowing you to get full throttle? How low was the oil when you had to top it up?

no there is nothing bended and the oil level was good, I top it up but it was between low and high, i top up at high but the "low oil pressure" bulb remain on and I have around half the power.

not sure where I could start the trouble shooting.

Find the oil sensor on the side of the engine and disconnect the wire. Lock the cart in neutral, turn the key on and hit the pedal far enough to engage the starter. The light should not come on. If it does, then trace that wire, it is grounded somewhere. If it doesn't, then either it has no oil pressure or the switch has failed.

Now if it did not come on, you need to check for oil pressure. Get your VOM out and put it on ohms. Go from the - terminal on the battery or a ground and the other to the terminal on the switch. It should read near 0. With the leads still attached, hit the pedal until it starts. Meter should go to infinity. If it doesn't, then either the switch is faulty or the pump has failed.

HI, here result of trouble shooting

when wire of "oil sensor disconnected" : the warning light does not light up
Measure of the resistance:
from oil pressure sensor to "-" of battery when engine off = 0 Ohms
From oil pressure sensor to "-" of battery when Engine On = 0.24 Ohms.

thus if I follow your trouble shooting or my sensor is faulty or my oil pump has failed?
How to find if this is the sensor or the oil pump?

thanks for the next setp :)

Change the sensor, should solve your problem.

Since you are also down on power, I suspect you really do have an oil pressure problem.
