82 Marathon Won't Start!

This ole broke-down cowboy is DESPERATELY seeking advice from the "old hands"!

I have an 82 Marathon (ok, the ravishing red-headed llama mama has an 82 Marathon) and it jest won't start! Cart ran like a top, but was parked for several months while the red-head cared for elderly mother. Upon returning, the cart would not start.

It has good spark at the plug. COLD compression is 105. To me it seems like the only conceivable issue is carburetion.

Other than the clear understanding that there is a rebuild in my future, I'm thinking a carburetor clean and, if unsucessful, a replacement is the best option.

HOWEVER, I will admit that I know a lot more about horses and steers than I do 'bout them there mechanical things!

Are there other courses of action that I should explore?

Fuel system is the likely cause after sitting. Clean the carb and see if it runs. Since you have spark, you must be missing the other important ingredient - fuel.

SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tore the carburetor down, used about half a can of carburetor cleaner, reinstall..........and the old gal l runs like a sewing machine.................................and the other "old gal" was drivin' her before the tools were back on the rack!

Life is good!
