Ring installation
I just got top overhaul kit for 244 Robin 2 cycle engine. There are no installation instructions. They don't look like there is a upside down but there is a small R on one side. Should the R go up or down or does it make any difference?

Ring installation
The R should be towards the top (head) of the piston.
The rings are a half keystone type, meaning the bottom (crank) side is "flat" (normal to the piston centerline axis) and the top (head) side is wedged. You can confirm the R is the wedged side by stacking the rings with the R's facing each other and the R's facing apart. When facing, the R sides will leave a gap on the inside edge showing the wedge.
