Re: Reverse Not Working after F&R Replaced
Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried all of the following.
Tighten B Nut Tighten All connections, cleaned added a small bit of di-electric grease to connections. Studs are all touching I hear a click in the solenoid when I hit the gas but still nothing happens. Makes be think that it is getting power to the reverse but something is wrong with the part that actually makes it go in reverse. Any thoughts? |

Does the solenoid click when you try to go in reverse too? Stock controller? |

Yes, it clicks when trying to go in reverse also but no movement.
I believe it is a stock controller. |

Re: Reverse Not Working after F&R Replaced
Just a thought....and perhaps if the microswitches are not properly working, then the solenoid will not "click" (I've upgraded to the Super Duty Reversing Contactor...so I don't have these issues anymore) but when you turn your F\R switch from forward to reverse, or vice-versa, do you hear the small micro switches located at the top click? This will be a mechanical "click" of the M\S as the rotation of the switch will cause the M\S to move up and down on the F\R "cam" cut on the F\R outer surface. (If that just made any sense to you.)

Re: Reverse Not Working after F&R Replaced
Dave,
The Micro switch does click when I am switching it from Forward to Reverse. It is part of the brand new F&R so it should be good. Any thoughts? |

Note to OP - new F&R have on rare occasion been defective. Can you make a continuity test on the F&R without the cables connected to the rear? See instruction below |

Re: Reverse Not Working after F&R Replaced
Yes, there are two micro switches on the top of the F&R Switch. Looks like one is on top of F and the other on top of the reverse.

Re: Reverse Not Working after F&R Replaced
Follow ScottyB's test instructions for sure. But, just for "shiggles" when you shift your F\R from F to R and back, you should hear each microswitch give an audible "click".
I say that as one time when I was doing some maintenance to the switch, I got a little aggressive when mounting the switch plate back on and bent one of those little M\S switches. Then I had no little "click", and of course...I had no forward....or maybe it was reverse. But I wasn't a happy fellow for being in a hurry. But again, follow Scotty's diagram. Dave |

Re: Reverse Not Working after F&R Replaced
I ran the continuity test like Scotty suggested and it checks out. Solid beep on my MM when in reverse.
I do get 2 audible clicks in the mirco switches when going from forward to reverse. Still nothing when I hit the pedal when Im in reverse except a click in solenoid. Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks |
