Blown Motor?
I've been playing with a 2004 TXT. 10 months ago I put more of a load on it than it should have been pulling. I thought I had smoked the controller, but the cart was still operational. Over the months I have used it regularly and noticed a smell when crawling at slow speeds. I figured it was the controller and knew it would eventually go. Last week I thought it did. I had an Altrax 400 sitting around and put it on. I still don't have any movement forward or reverse....have I blown my motor? Thanks for any input.

Re: Blown Motor?
Sounds like you might have a series cart with the f&r switch by your leg. If so you are probably smelling the f&r switch. There are heavy duty switches available.

Re: Blown Motor?
That is true. I thought that, but figured since I had mobility it was more the motor the culprit. Thanks so much.

Re: Blown Motor?
If it's a series motor, you can put it on jack-stands, and connect 12 volts across one rotor and one stator, with the remaining rotor and stator connected - sorry, I can't remember the letter designations, but you get the point - one letter and another letter in series and 12 volts across the remaining two. On a series motor, you can't connect it wrong as far as polarity - it just changes the rotational direction. I've never done this, but I wouldn't let it spin too fast. It either works or it doesn't.

Re: Blown Motor?
I have been tempted to do that with a motor in the past Yurtle. That is a quick down & dirty way to see if the motor is blown. Thanks.
