Acetone is about 1/4 the price of brake cleaner and does a great job.

I like the brake clean the most for assembled motors that need to be cleaned.I did my Cummins in a few hours,had almost 18 years of crud and oil on it,and when I got done washing it,I painted it without any lifting issues in the paint.I have parts washers for grimy stuff.
