Re: Dash Digital volt meter only reading up to 31.4, not 36v +
My digital ammeter required an isolated power supply, so I bought a regulated, isolated DC to DC converter. It needed a certain amp draw to maintain its voltage regulation, so I added a burden resistor. Works like a champ.

Jd, do you have a DVM for your battery pack? If you do, see if it will read down to 12 volts. If it does, you can install a three way toggle switch, connect your aux on one side and your pack on the other. That way you can switch between your aux and your pack and read both with one DVM. I did that and it works perfectly. See the switch below my DVM.

Why not add a toggle switch, to monitor pack voltage and aux battery with the flip of a switch? Your pack batts cost WAY more, and need a good meter to monitor anyway.

What you need is a Double Pole, Double Throw (DPDP) switch. This will have six terminals. Call one side negative and the other side positive. The middle two terminals will go to your DMM, the top and bottom two will go to pack and Aux battery, in any order you choose.

EDIT to above:
Pick a three position switch with all off in middle, if you want your DMM off. I don't need this, as my key-switch takes care of this. |

You didn't say it wrong, as a three position switch will work just fine. I have two DPTT switches, which are on-off-on, for high-off-low for my headlights and dome light. Make sure they aren't momentary though, as some switches will return to off if you don't hold them.
