Default input shaft

I was wondering can I just replace the outer bearing & seal on my input shaft it has a little play up & down doesn't move in or out. is their another bearing on the other end of the shaft in side the case?

no one has just done the bearing you all do the input shaft kit for $300

Yes you can change just the bearing and seal, but you also need to order a new gasket, that gasket (tolerance wise) is critical.

you are referring to the gasket where the case comes apart?? I planed on it any ways. thanks. there is only 1 bearing on the input shaft correct

Yes, that gasket. There is also a bearing on the inward side of the input shaft, but more then likely it should be fine. Rember, you must take out the set screw/spring and ball bearing (for the shifter shaft) out first. A short flat headed screw driver will work, then a magnet for the spring and ball bearing. If you lucky, the side case will come off with the input shaft and f/r gear assy intacked. Then just remove the "spirrel clip" holding on the idler gear, then tap out the old breang and seal and install the new one's. Good luck.
