Full charge for 48v cart?
Hi
I'm concerned that my batteries might get overcharged. What should the full reading by of 6 8v? It shows 52.4 now and the charger is still going. Thank you. |

Re: Full charge for 48v cart?
I can't remember exactly but I think men tops out around 57v. I do know my DPI charger goes to float charge and stays at 52.9v until I unplug it.

How long has it been charging. It should get up to about 58 probably more.

Re: Full charge for 48v cart?
It's not uncommon to see voltages in the mid 50's during charging. Some even get up to around 60. If the batteries are in good shape it should run until it is fully charged and will shut off. The reading you get for the pack will need to be taken several hours after it had leveled out.

Re: Full charge for 48v cart?
This is the internet we have the facts, stats, and history at our fingertips. If you're going to post in every thread get it right.
48v charger cut off is between 58 and 63 volts depending upon the year of the OBC or make of charger in question. A true reading of what the pack can actually hold after such a complete charge can be seen in a reading taken 12-24 hours after the charger has cut off. A fully charged pack left to settle for 12-24 hours should read 50.9v Higher readings indicate pack is still settling and lower readings mean some capacity has been lost. I hope this helps. If 52v after 8-10 hours of charging either charger or batteries are failing... let the pack rest a few hours and see if all the batteries are even (may be charger or OBC problem) or uneven batteries may indicate battery trouble. |
