Default XCT400 Install No Power

Hi Everyone, new to the forum and golf cart ownership. Decided to install a XCT48400 into my 2008 Precedent and unfortunately no it won’t move.

- Controller has solid green light after 5 initial Blinks.
- I have both diodes installed on Solenoid banded side closed to pos terminals
- I have 51V between B+ and B-
- No voltage between either solenoid terminals.
- I hear no click sound when turning key on
- Pushing pedals to floor does not change the light it stays solid (I read something that it should turn orange) so wasn’t sure if my issue is throttle connection?

Should I try to bypass OBC?

Could my issue be bad solenoid?

Thank I’m advance for your time!

Regards
Justin

Start with the most obvious that the solenoid is not latching when the Foot switch is depressed.
The solenoid large terminal + side should have B+ voltage.
The solenoid small terminals will have B+ voltage on both terminals to GND (B-) when the Tow/Run is in Run and the Key switch is On (Light Blue from Key switch).
Do you have these readings?
When the controller has all inputs needed to run it will GND the small solenoid terminal Blue/White which will close the solenoid.
As a test you could jumper the small solenoid terminal (Blue/White) to GND (B-) to see if the solenoid large contacts close.

Thanks for the help,

I took the following voltage readings

- Between B- and Large Solenoid + terminal: 51v
- Between B- and Large Solenoid - terminal : 51v
- Between B- and Small Solenoid + terminal: 51v
- Between B- and Small Solenoid - terminal : 51v

I will work on jumping the blue/white wire and let you know how that goes

I just jumped the blue/white wire on the negative solenoid small terminal to B- and I heard the solenoid close. So the solenoid is working fine for some reason the controller isn’t going to round or that wire is damaged. I did have to lengthen it so reach the solenoid terminal so I re-run that wire.

Ok actually just figured it out. There was a wire coming out of the mbc that had disconnected. There was a rubber boot over it and I didn’t realize it was disconnected inside the boot.

Thanks for the help!!

What color wire was disconnected?
The White wire going to the OBC is B+ from the Tow/Run switch.
The OBC sends the B+ out the Light Blue to the controller pin #5 - Charger Disable.
When charging the OBC will open this input so the controller can't run.
When the OBC is bypassed or deleted that's why these two wires are tied together.

Do you get continuity (zero ohms) across the large posts when the solenoid is open?
I think with the solenoid open the large post minus side should not have 51v on it.

It was the black wire going into the driver side of the obc that appears to go to the charging port. My charging port appears to be loose so it may actually be the connection of this wire there that is also a problem. I need to investigate this a bit more but I was able to take it on a short ride and it behaved fine and got up to 23mph. Just need to sort out why it cut out.

Was it the Black wire going thru the middle of the OBC?
The hole is the sense port for the OBC, that Black wire goes from the controller B-, thru the OBC sense hole to the batteries B-.
It completes the circuit to the batteries B- so no go without it.
There is another Black wire coming out of the OBC housing, along with all the other wires, that goes to the charge port.
It is only needed for charging.
The pin in the charge port is a little loose so it can wobble a little when plugging in the charger connector.

It was actually the grey wire pictured here with a black boot on it. Sorry not black wire...

It actually started happening again and I think unplugging the wire while I put the cart in tow mode it seemed to fix things again. I will mess around with it again tomorrow.

Picture doesn't show up.
Is that the Gray wire with the yellow fuse holder & 3/8A fuse?
