Default Wiring on/off switch on 36volt CC with V glide

Hello All. I am new to this and, of course, have a problem. Our cart is a 2000 DS with new batteries and a new solenoid. ( former owner put it on). Problem is that the on/off switch does nothing. I even took it off and the cart runs. I am wondering if the switch is wired up wrong. The blue goes to the micro switch on the forward/reverse switch and the red goes to the forward .reverse switch except it is attached to the post where the red battery lead comes in. Is this correct? If so, what could account for the cart always being on?

That red positive you say goes from battery pack to micro? Run it up to the key switch (2 terminal) and then back down to the same place it goes now.... that's it you will be able to turn the cart on & off with the key

I am not sure I understand (not uncommon). The key red wire is attached to the same place on the f/w sitch as the thick red wire coming off the battery. Is that where it should be? Should I run another wire up to the switch so that there are two red and one blue? Sorry to be thick headed. BY the way, grat forum. I really enjoy reading it.

Maybe I'm not being clear?

Take the red wire which is the battery positive main source for the F&R micro switch and pull it off......... bingo ~ the cart wont run. Correct? that is the wire which needs to go to the key switch and be turned on and off
