Curtis (1515S) 350A controller
Has anyone tried this or does anyone know about this?
I know it won't do as much as a conversion to a higher current IQ controller, but just want to know if it would give a reasonable performance upgrade versus the standard 250A 1515 ontroller. Am running an Excel cart with a standard 1515 controller and just a PQ executioner upgrade motor and this already does about 27-28mph on the flat. If the 350A controller can support some bigger wheels, get me to the low 30mph's and a give me a little more bite uphill then this would be just fine. |

There is no reason why it shouldn't give you more torque, If you upgrade cables also it will help the torque. Don't expect night and day changes but it will benefit, any reason why you wouldn't go to the 500 Amp controller?

Re: Curtis (1515S) 350A controller
Thanks Scooterman - long story - live overseas and simply have not been able to get 1268controller to work, despite all efforts (including going through everything over the phone with the FSIP guy who wrote the conversion insructions). A one-for-one replacement is a very attractive option at this stage.
Have replaced cables and solenoid already and have a lift kit and HD springs ready. Just want to know if the 1515S will give a meaningful performance increase and will be powerful enough to support 21 inch wheels up the hills. |

Ahh now I remember, you will get a slight increase but not like the 500a controller. I still think you can get that to work. First thing though you need the get a schematic of your cart, it would be a big help.

Re: Curtis (1515S) 350A controller
Just wondering if there is such a thing as a plug play 1515 to1268 conversion harness which doesn't require any fiddling around with resistors, deutsche plugs, or ground wires. Or better still, if there any plans for a more powerful after market 1515 controller.

It is plug and play for the IQ but it doesn't seem that way for the Excel. It may be, I know that plumb Quick has used these controllers, maybe you can send an email to them and get advise. I think they did this conversion already.

Bought the FSIP controller from PQ. They could not have been more helpful but still couldn't get it to work. No complaints.

What year is your cart? I have an 08 president, I have the IQ schematics, I just need an Excel schematic to compare, also your instructions. Shoot Crash Test dummy an PM and see if he can find a schematic.

Re: Curtis (1515S) 350A controller
Its a 2010 Excel Cart. Think the Schematics are standard but it didn't come with a book. It has been modified to be road legal with wipers, lights, horn, battery gauge.
I read that there is an excel to IQ conversion harness, but not sure if this is just the same as the wiring harness that the 1268 came with. |
