Re: 48v club car charger or batteries?
I'm having similar issues. Just installed 2 gauge wiring throughout. PowerDrive charger won't turn off. I did bypass the OBC with the 2 gauge but I did keep the 4 gauge that ran through it and connected both to the controller (custom cart shop owner told me to do this). How can I get the new 2 gauge wire to work with the OBC? Thanks in advance.
Edit- Reading 52.5V across the bank while charging. The charger does cycle to zero periodically but then returns to 8-9 amp charge. Last edited by Rolltide71; 08-13-2016 at 08:37 PM.. Reason: New info |

Your obc will not work correctly that way. Do away with the small wire in the obc and get the stud that goes through the obc and you should be ok. Or you can just get a DPI charger and not have to worry about the obc.

Re: 48v club car charger or batteries?
I'd like to get rid of the smaller gauge wire and have 2 gauge throughout. I do t know what the stud is. Can you elaborate please? Thanks for the help!

Re: 48v club car charger or batteries?
It is pretty simple to build your own from regular parts.
The brass bolt is about 3 1/2" long and you cut the head off. I got mine from the specialty bolt section at Lowes, but some folks used toilet flange bolts as they are 5/16. You also need 4 - nuts, 2 - neoprene washers, 2 - large flat washers and 4 - smaller washers. Wrap a few turns of electrical tape on about 1 inch on the center of the stud, the only purpose for that is to keep the threads from being abrasive to the Styrofoam type material inside the OBC. Don't put any thread lock or anything else on the bolt until after you assemble everything. You can then put some antioxidant over the exposed area. Here is a picture for reference: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/attac...g-obc-stud.jpg |
