No go after running for a lil while?

Ok. This is a old series 36v. Convert to 48v.
Upgrade the solenoid from carts unlimited a whike back
This cart has the v glide and heat coils.
After running for say 5 minutes it dyes , nothing.
Wait a lil while, like it needs to cool down, then it go's again for lil while.
I had alot of trouble with solenoid s so i ordered the HD one for this purpose with the diode and resister.
Could this solenoid acting up? Usely the others would just weld shut.
After it cools down. It's good for about 5 -10 minute's.

Everything was working fine till now.lol
Iam not sure if it's the solenoid again.
I may have to just go back to slow mode.lol

Scottyb is right. Those coils are designed for 36 volts. Anything more than that is too much power for them. They're going to get hotter than they're designed for and could potentially catch on fire. That's not unheard of even with 36 volts going to them. 48 Volts is on another level for sure. Not to mention the V-glide switch that routes the power to the resistor coils. It's not capable of handling that type of power either. 48 Volt cars need to be converted to a solid state speed controller and the resistor coils need to be eliminated for safe operation.

Ok thanks, I guess I'll have to go back to 36 v. Gor now.
What's the cost to convert to speed controller? And is it uncommon to find a used one?

Talk to scottyb about the 36 to 48v series conversion on these older cars. That's his thing.
