Plum Quik might be a site sponsor and have some good rep with a few people here but my neighbor called and ordered a torque motor from them. $750 and 4 weeks later with several phone calls he gets a motor in the mail. It's a speed motor. Not the motor he ordered at all. He called and their response was "run it, if you don't like it send it back and we'll build you another one".

Now, to compare, I called D&D a week after he ordered his PQ motor to order my motor (both are PDS). $575 later and less then a week I had the exact motor delivered to my front door. It was exactly like specified when I called and they sent a dyno sheet on the motor they built me.

Hands down different companies. One is a small mom and pop place with good following here and one is nothing but professional. Choose wisely grasshopper.

And from my sig, you'll notice I chose neither, and went with an off-the-shelf motor from http://www.eccustomgolfcarts.com/

Not even gassers can touch me.

Wow

That just scared the crap out of me. I guess I will see when I open the box but each time I talked to Robbie or the lady that answers the phone they kept asking me what kind of motor and "NOBODY" mentioned a name of the motor or the type, we just dicussed through one E-mail and 3 phone calls.

I will be flying out for vacation on Saturday and putting the motor in when I get back and "should" have the Trojan Ranger 160's in by then...

They have been good about returning emails though very short with answers. Told them I wanted a motor with lots of torque but still decent speed and they said they had one that added about 55% torque increase and was 10.5 hp. Didn't mention the name of the motor though.

Well I will find out probably by Wednesday the quality of my motor from PQ. My batteries are in and I pick them up tomorrow and swap out the motor and batteries then charge time!

I'm running a plum quick bandit drove up to see Robbie (he is only 4 hrs away) and dropped off my motor this was Wednesday on Friday just as I was pulling up in my yard I see the big brown truck dropping off that purple box I am satisfied with my bandit for what it is all it is is a stock rebuild but I do wish I would have gotten a torque motor but there was just no time Robbie hooked me up with what he could to get me to the beach as we were leaving that Monday

I have been reading this thread for a bit and now I am at the “need for speed” part of my cart. I just got it registered legal and I would like to at least get 25 MPH out of it. I have a 2008 EZGO PDS 2+2 (factory lift and rear seat). It is 36v the batteries are about 6 months old and it runs out at 18-19 all stock. I have read all the post here and I am confused. It seems that most who did the Controller, Solenoid, etc adding another 6v for a total of 42v upgrade which also means a new charger. Since others here had results that were less than they expected doing the controller upgrade. I was just thinking about doing that upgrade with my 36v cart in order to get my speed increase. But now I am wondering if it would be better to replace my motor and leave the other components stock to get to my desired 23-25 mph?
What is the consensus here, I am in no way that knowledgeable on electric carts so I really need the help and opinions.

The fact is that a 36v PDS cart on stock tires will run out at 24mph with an Alltrax controller, HD solenoid and 4g cables. No motor upgrade is needed, for lots of applications the stock 2.5hp motor is okay.

Which is cheaper and easier to do? I was thinking changing the motor is more economical and just a bolt on bolt off thing. Would just the motor upgrade do it also? I have 22 inch tires but they are street tread and low pressure 10psi and with the regen in the current set up I can only get 18 mph.
