Default Controller hot and cart shuts down

Well i got the cart together and have been breaking in the new batteries.

However, the controller is getting hot and the cart momentarily stops going.

I assume this is probably the stock gear.

What say ye?

That's a stock setup all right. Is the dust cover missing? Looks pretty dirty in there. That stock controller is NOT water tight. Also, is the controller getting hot or is the solenoid getting hot?

The cart was / is covered in dust and dirt. There is a dust cover, i just removed it for the picture. I didnt really want to wash this area with a water hose, so it is still pretty dirty. I can blow it out with my air compressor.

They both felt hot, couldnt decipher if it was one or the other putting out the heat.

Thanks Scotty, would it also improve the speed / torque? I know i am just braking the batteries in, but i would think the cart would have a little more umph...

Careful - real tin foil is an electrical conductor
You could cause a short between B+ and B- and wreck the controller.

I use plastic shopping bags and tape to cover the controller, solenoid, & F&R. Then I spray battery cleaner all over everything, let it foam up real good, and rinse off with a garden hose... follow this with the leaf blower. When everything looks dry I remove the plastic.

PS
Mike -
sending the 101B pkg out with both resistors for 36 & 48v and included the two 3/8ths cable lugs you will need on cables #1 and 2 at the solenoid. Hope you go 48v real soon. You will love it
