Default Battery maintenance

We go back and forth between Alabama and Florida and the cart can set for 2or 3 months.

I bought 3 of the HARBOR FREIGHT "Battery Maintainers" $7 apiece. They are NOT trickle chargers. I put them on the cart a couple of weeks ago and they actually work.

Any of you guys doing this?

How did you hook up the chargers? I assume they are 12v chargers.

Put 1 on every 2 battries. (36 volt Cart)

Hmmmm that brings up a question? Can these puppys be daisy chained to give 36volts or 48?????

I will check and report back.

Be VERY careful - you may fry your batteries and chargers and yourself!!
I wouldn't do it. You can charge the batteries in pairs.
Just be sure to disconnect the cables between the pairs.

Well it works so it's an option for you 48 volt guys.

I do mine in pairs cause their 6 volt.

These puppys only pull 15 watts apiece so I'm not really worried.

Kelly has it nailed - Float Chargers.

NOPE, not required.....that is you don't need to disconnect the cables between the batteries. Just connect the float chargers in pairs and you are good.

That depends on the charger. If -ve is connected to neutral or ground, you'll be shorting them..

Not necessarily. Depends on the charger and their reference to "ground". Many coil and core transformers can be seriesed, but you will be exceeding their primary/secondary/core ratings. Add solid state controls and you "may" not be OK.

In this case, it sounds like it worked.

EDIT: I was answering Nuke's post.
