2005 EZGO Rear Suspension Question
Hi
I just purchased a 2005 TXT PDS that has a suspension/bushing extender on the back of my cart that I am not familiar with. See the attached pictures. I currently have 20 x 10 x 10 tires and wheels on it. It looks like they used it two pegs up from where it is now on the "busing extender". Can anyone tell me what is the proper setting for my current tires? I would like to add 23 x 12 x 10.5 tires and wheels I just purchased but I assume I need a minimum of a 4" lift Thanks |

Re: 2005 EZGO Rear Suspension Question
Your "bushing extenders" are leaf spring shackles and are not factory stock. They appear to be twice as long as stock shackles (which are not adjustable). I am sure your long shackles were installed because the springs are worn and they needed additional lift to clear the slightly larger 20" tires.
If the cart sits level then they are the right length as a band-aide fix for now. It would be better to get HD springs and go back to stock shackle length, especially if you have a rear seat. Upgrading to 23" tires with definitely require a lift. 4" lift might do if you keep these shackle extenders or upgrade correctly to HD springs. If you keep the long shackles then add a bolt and spacer in the middle hole to add more lateral stability. |

And it's likely those shackles contribute to a "flexible" ride. Not as safe as having the correct rear springs WITHOUT extended shackles.

Re: 2005 EZGO Rear Suspension Question
Thanks- I think I will upgrade to a 4" lift to fit the 22" tires I just bought.
Any recommendations to a person on budget that is fairly easy to assemble with home tools? |

Re: 2005 EZGO Rear Suspension Question
I bought my Jakes lift kit, wheel and tire package, and HD rear springs from a site sponsor. Trademark Carts was fabulous.
http://www.trademarkcarts.com Do it once by doing it right the first time. Highly recommended. |
