Battery Charging Question
I have only charged the batteries on the cart 2 times since owning it. Both times I smelled battery acid so I looked under the seat to find it bubbling up around the battery caps. Is this normal?

Re: Battery Charging Question
The bubbling (gassing) is normal, and a little liquid bubbling out sometimes occurs, but more than a little typically means the cells were overfilled.
One of the most common mistakes is to fill the batteries before they are fully charged. If, and only if, the plates are exposed, should water ever be added to the cells before the batteries are fully charge, Even then, only add enough distilled water to cover the plate, and then fill to proper level after charging. Also, the batteries should be charged after every use. If the cart is used for enormous short trips during the day, only putting it on charge when it is put away for the night will usually suffice. While on the website sportcoupe linked to, read everything in the menu with the word "Battery" in the title. |
