Solenoid keeps going bad
I have a 2000 TXT 36v on 22" tires that is going through solenoids like hot cake. I have tried a heavy duty and super duty solenoid but still they won't last more than a few months. What could be causing this? It does have a stock controller.

Re: Solenoid keeps going bad
If it has one, check the pre-charge resistor across the solenoid contacts. If it is open or missing there will be a high current inrush to the controller's circuits every time the the solenoid energizes and eat up the contacts.

The cart is a series with original wiring. The resistor was installed along with the super duty solenoid in early November. I'm getting the exact same reading from the battery pack and solenoid.

Re: Solenoid keeps going bad
What radioman said and are you certain the solenoid is not being left energized for hours on end?

Re: Solenoid keeps going bad
Measure the resistor with an ohmmeter. You will need to disconnect one end form the solenoid to measure it to be safe. Or get someone to check it for you. It should read around 250 ohms. Or you can check for voltage on both big connections on the solenoid with the solenoid NOT energized. Voltage on both terminals would indicate the resistor MAY NOT be the problem.
