2011 Precedent with Alltrax XCT500IQ upgrade
Quick update on my cart and the mods so far: I have a Club Car Precedent 2011 model with PH prefix serial number. For those of you who have one of these, you are probably aware that upgraded controllers have been limited in comparison to what the earlier series type carts had available in the aftermarket domain. I have been holding out, but I finally contacted ScottyB at Carts Unlimited. I purchased the new 500 amp XCT Alltrax with the upgraded 500A solenoid and 0 guage wire kit. I have six 8-Volt batteries. My cart has 23 inch tires and a back seat, so I have also added slightly stronger leaf springs in the back. My lift is an Allsports 6 inch dual A-arm.
The controller comes with instructions which are good, they need to be followed closely, though. (Pics would be good, but I managed OK). Scotty was great, and he answers his emails very promptly. I intended to use the mounting bracket, but there is just not enough room on the aluminum plate to get it on there without cutting off part of the aluminum separators. I mounted the solenoid in the same location as stock. I had to mount the controller horizontally instead of vertically, but no big deal. I used a makeshift OBC stud made out of a brass toilet bowl bolt that I cut the head off of. Had to move the OBC mounting bolt to the top and redrill to allow the controller to sit flush on the panel. Drilled 4 holes for the controller as well. Overall, the performance is great. I have not messed around with other settings yet, but my biggest need has been addressed. We use the cart to go on fun rides but we also need it to bring 3 or 4 adults up a somewhat steep path from the lake. Stock, the cart would barely pull the hill with 3 passengers. The upgraded aftermarket Plum Quick Bandit motor was better on top speed without the pesky braking going down hills, but it had less torque and would not make it up the hill sometimes even with 2 people. All that has changed now. I have not tried it yet with 4 adults on the cart, but on the other hills we ride on, there is a huge torque improvement. Going up even moderate grade hills actually allows us to accelerate. I will update this post after the weekend when I have the chance to do a longer ride. Very pleased overall. Here is a pic of the OBC and controller and solenoid in place before the plastic shield is put back in place. |

This is exactly what I need to do to my precedent. Mine is 09. Looking for torque improvement and more speed would be nice but definitely not slower than speed setting 4 stock.

Re: 2011 Precedent with Alltrax XCT500IQ upgrade
update on performance so far, I am very pleased. The cart will easily pull hills even at partial throttle with 23 inch tires and with 4 total passengers. Previously these same hills were barely able to be scaled with just 2 adults and one child. We are also now able to climb a 6 foot dirt hill beside the road that is at least 40 degrees in elevation. Previously, the cart would not even get the front tires to the top. Now it powers up and is actually pulling a small wheelie at the top. The controller and solenoid and wires have exceeded expectations. I'm not in to top speed numbers since most of our carting is done off road or through hilly neighborhoods with my two boys and their friends. Very pleased with the hill climbing ability on the standard setting from Scotty B.

Good to hear this Ramptester
Your performance improvement is similar to what I saw with a XCT400 in the IQ model Precedent.... Finally - one controller for perfect performance from IQ and PQ Precedent models. Sweet. |

Do you have any top speed numbers. Will it run 30 mph?

I will not run up to 30 mph. Top speed is likely 22-25 mph depending upon the tire size.
