For starters jack the rear wheel off the floor. Remove the seat. press the gas slowly by hand. You should hear the solenoid closest to the drivers side click 1st = no movement. then the solenoid next to it with tire movement, then the one next to it with increased tire speed and so on all across the bunch.

so if any solenoids audibly click but do not increase tire speed then they are faulty?

Thanks. Is there any way to definitively test with a multimeter? I could be wrong but it seems just waiting for tire speed changes that it could be hard to identify exactly which units ate bad.

When the solenoid clicks (engages) it will make continuity across the big posts.

Replace with identical parts. There really are no upgrades for this system. There are replacement systems that are modern solid state drive.
