32 V is too low for operation. The 36 V cart will read 38.4 when fully charged. It should be put back on the charger at 36 V. Continually running the batteries down below 36 V will shorten their useful life span.

so my cart will stop completely at 32 volts, I was thinking it would run down a lot lower than that. so does anyone know how many miles a good set of 36volt batteries should go?

Think of battery voltage like a gas tank...

38.2 is a full tank
37.73 is a 3/4 tank
37.25 is a half a tank
36.78 is a 1/4 a tank
36.3 is as close to empty as you you dare run.

Running your voltage down past 36 volts is like driving your car with the fuel-light light up all the time....

running your batteries at 32v will damage your batteries permanently...running that low is also hard on other components and may cause expensive failures.....you may need all new batteries if you cant get your batteries up to 38 or 39 volts.....

32 volts is way too low to run your batteries! You are doing damage to them by doing that.

There is a seemingly endless set of variables, but in very general terms a typical stock 36V golf cart is designed to carry two golfers and their clubs through about two rounds of golf on a single battery charge.

That is roughly 12 to 15 miles, but some carts are more efficient than others.

When my cart was a relatively stock PDS drive system (stock except for 2Ga cables and 17" tires), my estimated range based on repeated 10 to 12 mile tests, averaged over 20 miles.

Your question is not as cut and dry as you may think. There are a lot of variables that will go into how many miles you can get from a full charge. Things like load, terrain, tires, motor, all play a part in it.

And - Battery capacity (amp hours) age and condition...... but all in all, 10-15 miles on the flats is average.

Bottom line . As these guys have said you don't want to run the batts down too low. They can only recover from that so many times. It is best for them to stay on the upper 50% of their capacity see below
