1990 ezgo marathon weird throttle issue
Hey guys new to the golf cart scene and I'm excited to get started. Now I purchased a 1990 ezgo marathon for 125$ installed 6 new battery's. It's been running great for a couple weeks then all of a sudden it acted like it had no power one day after ridding around less than an hour. Now it's gotten intermittent you can push the peddle and it will take off fine then you can push it 2 mins later and it will hardly move. I have rewired the entire cart with 4 gauge wire it was doing this before I rewired I was hoping that would fix it. It's weird like it goes down to 40% power then you can push the peddle again and it will take off. The cart is a 36 volt cart. I have load tested the batteries they are new

Re: 1990 ezgo marathon weird throttle issue
Test the throttle potentiometer output.
Unplug small wires from controller pins #2&3 Plug your ohm Ω meter into these spade ends Work the throttle through it's range of travel while reading the meter. Reading should be close to 0-5000. If the reading is inconsistent or sketchy the pot or the 1/2 speed reverse micro switch may at fault. |

Re: 1990 ezgo marathon weird throttle issue
Do the test many times trying to simulate driving = going up and down the pedal range then hoovering and again going up and down and look for inconsistencies in the read out.

Re: 1990 ezgo marathon weird throttle issue
Ok so I tested wires 2 and 3 it goes from 0-5.9k I did it several different times for about ten mins. I'm gonna ride it around a little tomorrow before work and see if it will do it. It has no reason when it does it you can ride for an hour or 2 mins. I hope my controller isn't going out. Any help is appreciated thanks.

So I rode the cart around this am before work and it finally did it. I pulled the wires and tested the throttle is work as should. What should I check now the controller?

Re: 1990 ezgo marathon weird throttle issue
Ok over the last couple of days I've noticed that if I leave it sitting for a few hours it's back to normal. Any Ideas?
