Default OBC bypass on Precedent

I have done lots of reading on OBC bypass, I have a 2011 CC precedent, can I bypass the OBC and completely remove the OBC? I will then buy the correct charger. I have read that the OBC controls other parts of the cart, will anything else be affected?
Also should I buy the OBC bypass wire kit? will this work for my cart? I would like to keep the connectors and wires intact just in case I would put it back, for resale.
Thanks

Hello, yes you can bypass with no issues. You do not have to remove. Unplug harness, run a 10ga wire attached to the 10ga that comes off the back of the charger receptacle to your main negative on your battery pack. Then connect together the blue and white wire on the cart end of the harness you unplugged. That's it, both can be reversed later.

In the bypass wire kit there are a lot more wires, what do they do? Is the kit a better way to go?

Thanks for the referral Crash,

The kit is good if you don't want to do any cutting and splicing. It can be done for less, but you're going to have to modify the vehicle wiring yourself in order to do so.

The by-pass kit also provides a "pull-up" resistor between the Controller lockout circuit and the "sense wire" on the charger receptacle.

That way You can still disable the cart if your new charger can provide a "negative" signal on the "sense pin" while it is plugged to the cart.

Could you please explain that statement for someone who is not well versed in Golf cart. I have just installed an Alltrax xct 48500 from Dave @ Revolution Golf Carts. I plan on getting a DPI charger. Will this charger provide that Negative signal?
Thanks

That is really a question to the Vendors that sell DPI smart chargers, here is my take on the issue:
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...ml#post1336899
I don't know if the DPI ships, or can be ordered with a 12/3 DC cord, otherwise it would require a jumper inside the charger DC connector itself.

The answer is most likely "The DPI smart charger needs to be modified to provide the lockout-signal".
