What is the voltage from the positive to the negative sockets in the cart charger receptacle?

Do You have another cart to test your charger?

If not, you will need to by-pass the relay inside the charger so you can measure the voltage output of the charger.

I checked the volts at the carts plug in and it is the same as the pack voltage.....not sure if that's good or bad?

That is not good.

The negative wire from the charger receptacle should go to the OBC where it regulates the current.

Has anyone changed that wire to go directly to pack negative?

I will look when I get home....but my guess is yes since there is a green wire going to the pack negative

Yes someone before me changed the negative wire to go to the pack negative....Why would someone do that?

The only reason would be to by-pass a bad OBC.

The best solution would be to get a new smart charger and completely remove the OBC.

You can also get a replacement OBC, but they are not a cost effective replacement part.

I did a test on the gray wire on back of the obc and when charger kicks on I get a meter reading which says the obc is good right? But with the negative wire from the charger plug in on the cart hooked to the neg pack? Does that give me a false reading? Sorry little cornfussed.....

The OBC has multiple functions:

The gray "sense wire" is how the OBC turns the charger On/Off.

The negative wire is how the OBC controls the charger current.

The blue wire is how the OBC disables the Controller when the charger is plugged into the cart.

The Controller lockout function (blue wire) is about the only thing that can be by-passed if You want to use a PowerDrive charger with your cart.

You can try connecting the negative wire back into the OBC if you think whoever disconnected it had no clue what they were doing and the OBC is actually working.

Does the Lester on board chargers come with good instructions? I have searched a ton and have seen a lot of installs locations but not a lot about wiring. I have wired a lot of boat on board chargers but not for a golf cart. Is there a lead going to every battery? Can someone direct me to how hard the wiring is or a past post on wiring. Thanks
