Re: Ezgo dcs sputters
I charged it til my charger was steady green. I drove it 15 minutes then checked with multimeter set to dcv 20 and got 5 batteries at 6.28 and 1 at 4.28. I will let it charge 24 hrs tomorrow when I'm home and then check it set to tow again. One of the 6.28 batteries was low on water in 2 cells so I tipped them off. If I did this wrong let me know please

Re: Ezgo dcs sputters
Replace the 4.28 battery for sure. The jury is out on the other 5

Re: Ezgo dcs sputters
Attached is the battery chart.
100% charged is 6.37v. As you can see a battery with less than 5 volts in it is less than 5% charged. |

Re: Ezgo dcs sputters
Once you charge again, get a voltage reading before you drive the cart. The one bad battery is going to pull the others down rapidly and will eventually ruin them. You may be able to find a good used battery just make sure its a good one. A good battery should read 6.37 or higher 12 hrs after charging is complete. Right off the charger they should read as high as 7.5.

Re: Ezgo dcs sputters
If you decide to replace the known bad battery, look for a used one that's the same age, and amp-hour rating. Also have them load test it.

Re: Ezgo dcs sputters
Ok charged for a night then let sit for 12 hrs. 4x6.34 1x6.33 and 1x4.22. Does that mean I have 5 good batteries and one bad one? Or the 5 "could" be good and one is bad?

Re: Ezgo dcs sputters
You have one battery that is gone. What is the date stamp on the good batteries. Should be on the top of the battery terminals. Something like J5, this indicates the month and year of the batteries. If the batteries are relatively new you may want to replace the one battery and give it a try. If they or 3 or 4 yrs. you may want to consider buying all new.

Re: Ezgo dcs sputters
I ordered new batteries. Thinking of upgrading the battery cables from stock but I don't have a lot of money. Any advice? 2g 4g 6g? What is awg? Everything is stock on dcs. Do I replace just the 5 on batteries or do you replace the 2 long ones to controller?
